So the NFL has just officially killed the kick-off. All in the context of ”player safety “ - which I’ll call BS on. If they were really that concerned then TNF, International play, now a 17 game season, flex games on TNF et al would not be a thing.
Yet here we are.
My guess is the the new kick-off rule is to limit their CTE liability in court.
I digress.
Since the the new kick-off rule effectively means a touchback anywhere behind the 25- why kick the ball off at all? And if that ends up being the case (no kick-off return) - they screw all drafts from here out. Players are selected in later rounds for their special teams ability. With no kick return (and kick team) - what roster spot do they get?
Finally someone explain to me how this man does not end up in the hall of fame.
